American Idol - Top 36 - Week 2

Before I start with the blogging, I'd like to say a little something about the way Idol is going this season.

Ahem.

I CANNOT BELIEVE THEY ARE ONLY PUTTING 3 PEOPLE THROUGH EACH WEEK!!!!!!

I feel better now.  Well, not really, but what can you do?

THIS. is A-MER-ican Idol.

Jasmine Murray - "Love Song" I think the 2nd half was better, but it didn't blow me away.  Not crazy about the song choice.  And girlfriend can SING, so I hate it for her.  Daniel says, Who's doing Ryan's wardrobe this year?  I agree, it's looking a little casual.

Matt "Dueling Piano Player" Giraud - "Viva La Vida"  Not great.  A little rough.  Maybe he should stick with the piano? Per Paula, he did bring what he brought.  (Whaaa?)

Jeanine Vailes - "This Love"  I don't remember her from earlier shows.   Am I the only one?  Hate the short shorts with the jacket.  Not loving it.  Not good.  Ok, everybody has complimented her on her legs first.  Bad sign.

Nick "Norman Gentle" Mitchell - "And I'm Telling You"  Oh gracious.  There really are no words.  He called out Neil Patrick Harris in the middle of the song!   Doogie!  Y'all, he is really funny and cracks me up, but he doesn't belong on Idol.

Allison Iraheta - "Alone"  Best song choice so far.  Best performance so far too.  Although that's not saying much considering, I think she's great.  Loved it.  She's a little weird.  But I loved it!

Kris Allen - "Man in the Mirror"  Last week they said not to mess with MJ.  Uh oh.  Dude can sing, but I don't love the song choice.  Good job though.

(can they please leave the names up a little longer than 1.5 seconds?)

Megan Joy "Single Mom" Corkrey - "Put Your Records On"   Three notes in and Daniel says "She's already better than the rest of them."  Good song for her.  It was ok for me.  That little twisty dance she kept doing was bugging me.  Totally agree with Simon, the first part of the song was better.

Matt  "the Welder" Breitzke -  sounds like a WWF name "If You Could Only See"  I really like him.  OK  job.  Weird song choice though.  Kind of boring.  (I totally said all that before the judges!)

Jesse Langseth - "Betty Davis Eyes"  This song brings back memories of being at my friend Mandy's house.  I guess we listened to it.  Anyway, I thought it was ok.  I like her voice.  She's cool AND she's too cool for school.

Kai Kalama - "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted"  Just ok.   I hope he makes it because I think he can do better.  The fact that he takes care of his sick mom just endears him to me.  I'm a sap.  I admit it.  And I embrace it.

Mishavonna Henson - "Drops of Jupiter"  I don't like this song.  But girlfriend can sing.   Hopefully she'll get another chance.

Adam Lambert - "Satisfaction"   Looking forward to hearing him, so hope he doesn't disappoint.  There's something about that I didn't like.  He's no David Cook.  He has a good voice but I didn't like the performance.

My picks: Allison, Kris, and Adam

I'm off to watch LOST.

SOOOO enjoy reading this. Funny how we make some of the same comments. Next week we need to text during it!! ;o) The twisty dance was SO annoying and it is the only move she has. I saw her doing it up in the loft thing that watch from. I simply can't pick three. Not sure I like their method of choosing this year.

Yea.. the twisty thing. What's that? The 16 year old with the red hair can SANG, but I am glad there's not an interview requirement like in beauty pagents because she would TOTALLY bomb! I liked the last guy a lot. You can tell he has been on stage a lot with musicals and all. Bless 'em though.. lots of them were off pitch! Wonder if they have a hard time hearing or something because they wouldn't have made it this far if they couldn't sing on key!

I'm totally with you on the 'pick three' thing....it's totally getting on my nerves. For some reason, these kiddos just don't seem as good this year....maybe they're just nervous. :)
My pics are Allison, Adam, and Matt B.......and I liked Megan too..........we'll see what happens tonight.
I told Deidre....I took a picture of myself Saturday in that lovely red sweater....when I get it uploaded, I'm going to email the pic out to you gals so you can see the beauty that it is. :)

Great recap, once again! I said the same thing about Ryan's outfit...not sure what was up with that!

I noticed the same thing as Ashleigh with the "twisty" girls moves...I think that's all she's got to work with!

I liked the Mishavonna girl okay, but I don't know if she'll get through or not.

Gotta say, not really loving this group =(

Lol I haven't watched Idol for AGES, and after this account, I don't think I've been inspired to start. It doesn't sound all that great, lol.

I totally agree about the "twisty" move! I couldn't concentrate on her singing because of that! (We kept pausing the TV trying to see what her tattoo was a picture of.)

Funny...we thought the same thing about Ryan's look. Did his luggage get lost or what?

Norman is hilarious--he cracks me up --but I don't think AI is his platform, either.

My favorite from this week would have to be Allison --Great song choice, but then, after all, I heart me some Heart!

Have a great weekend!

Someone needs to put you in contact with the idol commentators, you could give Ryan a run for his money! You would totally have a job! Once again, loved it!
